Cdre A S
M Abdul Baten, ndc, psc, joined Bangladesh
Navy in 1977 and was commissioned in the
Engineering Branch. He is a graduate from
Bangladesh University of Engineering and
Technology, from the Department of Naval
Architecture and Marine Engineering, obtained
first class and topped his class.
Cdre Baten is also a
graduate of Defence Services Command and Staff
college, Mirpur. He obtained Masters in
Defence Studies with a first class. He has
also finished his M Phil on National Security
Studies from National
University with distinction. He did Turkish language course in
Turkey,
followed by Naval Staff
College at War
Academy in Istanbul. He graduated from
National
Defence
College, Mirpur in 2004.
Cdre Baten also
did various professional training and courses
in UK, China, Malaysia and USA.
Cdre Baten served BN at
different capacities in different ships and
establishments and commanded a number of units
and formations. He was the first Commander of
the Operational Sea Training Group (OSTG)
in BN. He has served as the project officer
cum first General Manager of Khulna Shipyard,
when it came under the command
of navy, and thereby
worked for the salvation of this sick industry
for three years.
As UN Peace
Keeper, Cdre Baten has the experience of
working as Contingent Commander and Military
Observer at Western Sahara. He has also served
as Director at Naval Headquarters and as
director of National Security Intelligence (NSI).
Lately he served the National
Defence
College as Senior Directing Staff (Navy).
Cdre Baten
is married to Tazeen Baten and they have a
son and daughter.
Cdre Baten is a
keen lover of music, sports and enjoys
jogging, golf, tennis, watching cricket and
reading contemporary periodicals and
literature. |
