Commodore M Zarzeul Islam, ndc, psc, joined Bangladesh Navy in 1977 and was commissioned in the Electrical Branch. He received his early training from former Yugoslav Naval Academy and graduated from Zagreb University on electronics engineering.He completed Long Electrical Specialization Course from INS Valsura, India. He did various professional training/courses in China, Germany and Singapore.

Cdre Zarzeul is a graduate of Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur. He is also a graduate of Armed Forces Staff College, Malaysia. He has completed Masters in Defence Studies under National University, Gazipur, Bangladesh. He is also a graduate of National Defence College Mirpur.

Cdre Zarzeul served BN at different capacities in different ships, establishments & Dockyard. He served as ACNS (Log) and as Director in different branch including Training, Weapon & Electrical Engineering and Intelligence at Naval Headquarters. He also held positions outside BN as Director in Armed Forces Division and National Security Intelligence.

He is married to Ashefa Islam and is blessed with two daughters (Zainu and Zajiba).

Cdre Zarzeul enjoys jogging and golf. He is a keen lover of orchid plantation and amature photography.
