Commodore Abul Khair Chowdhury, (E), ndc, psc, BN is the Commodore Superintendent Dockyard at Chittagong, Bangladesh. He was born on 01 April 1958. He joined Bangladesh Navy on 03 October 1977 and was commissioned in the Engineering Branch on 01 April 1980.  He completed B Sc Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and Masters in Defence Studies from the National University, Bangladesh. He underwent Marine Engineering Application Course in Royal Naval Engineering College, United Kingdom. He is a graduate of Defence Service Command and Staff College, Dhaka, Bangladesh and Pakistan Navy Staff College, Karachi, Pakistan. He is also a graduate of National Defence College, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He served in various capacities in the ships and establishments of Bangladesh Navy. Before joining as Commodore Superintendent Dockyard, he was holding the appointment of Senior Directing Staff (Navy) at National Defence College at Mirpur, Bangladesh. He also served as Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Material) at the Naval Headquarters of Bangladesh Navy. He visited Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand,Vietnam, Kuwait, UK, Canada, France, Italy, Russia, Australia, Newzealand, Jordan, Qatar and UAE. His hobbies include listening music and reading books, and his food habits are rice, vegetable, fish and chicken. He married Mrs Parveen Chowdhury and he has only daughter Anika Chowdhury of 17 years old.
