IN AID TO CIVIL ADMINISTRATION

 

Anti-Smuggling, Anti-Piracy and Fishery Protection Patrol
 
Being empowered by the Government, Bangladesh Navy is conducting anti smuggling and anti piracy patrol and fishery protection duties in the EEZ, territorial and internal waters and coastal areas of Bangladesh.
 


 Although the operation commenced from 1972, it was geared up from 1985 and since then Bangladesh Navy so far has apprehended 1220 trawlers/mechanized wooden fishing or cargo boats/country boats, apprehended 2385 smugglers/pirates and confiscated goods worth of more than Taka 218 crore. Bangladesh Navy is vowed to curb all types of smuggling through the waters of Bangladesh and accordingly keeps at least five ships deployed round the clock in its area of responsibility.

   
Operation Clean Heart
 

Bangladesh Navy assist the civil authority in time of needs ie In Aid to Civil Power. BN personnel were deployed in coastal areas in Kutubdia, Moheshkhali, Sandwip and Hatia as part of "Operation Clean Heart" to bring stability in internal law and order situation. The success of BN in "Operation Clean Heart" was praiseworthy. During the operation BN contingent could apprehend a large number of Arms, Ammunitions and explosives.

 

A large number of listed, non-listed and suspected miscreants were caught and handed over to police.

Deployment at WASA

To assist WASA in controlling the pump houses and distribution of water Armed Forces personnel are deployed at time. A BN contingent was deployed in Chittagong area for control and distribution of water.
