Introductory Description . 

1.  Over the last 26 years B.N School & College has maintained its image as a centre of academic excellence and the reputation for being one of the best institutions in the port city. It has managed to stay free from all the evils affected by violent student politics. Its well spacious compound, scenic beauty and organized infrastructure have beautified the congenial and friendly academic atmosphere. It is directly supervised and monitored by Bangladesh Navy. As a private educational institution, its reputation is soaring higher and higher day by day. 

2.   Important information regarding establishment.

a. Starting year     In 1977 it started its voyage as a junior school.
b. 1st phase up gradation In 1978 it was upgraded to high school.
c. 2nd Phase up gradation  In 1990 the Higher secondary section came into
being.

 The library is situated in the 1st floor of the building. The number of books in the library are about 5000. Laboratories are present in the 1st and 2nd floor. Everywhere there is a touch of modernity. The well equipped laboratory and rich library have added new dimension in imparting modern education.

Games, Sports and other Co-Curricular Activities. 
While academic excellence, self discipline and competitiveness characterize B.N School and college, there are more avenues for self development. The students have proved their efficiency in all forms of sports. They have achieved so many prestigious laurels for the institution both in thana and district level. There is a rich tradition of co-curricular activities. Cultural programmes on different occasions are endless. These are organised solely the students.           f. Staff Development : Staff development in accordance with the changing trends is very essential for the smooth functioning of the institution. Training is the perfect vehicle of any kind of staff evelopment . From this point of view the nstitution has taken up steps to train up its teaching staff gradually. In March, 2003 principal has participated in a three week long training programme of head of stitutions in NAEM based on Educational Administration and Management. Recently the Assistant eadmaster of the school section has completed a month long training programme in Australia on “ School Based Assessment and Curriculum in secondary level.” Six of the teachers of this institution have completed training on SBA which system is going to be started from 2004. B.N School & College has achieved the glory of one of the lead schools among 49 schools in the country.   

6. Student : In terms of students its an enormous institution but the success of B.N School and college is mainly hidden in the strict discipline maintained by the students of all age groups.

There are 02 sections in science, 01 each in Humanities and Business Studies in Class XI and XII. On the other hand there are 05 sections in Class I, II, III, IV, V, VI and 03 in each class from VII to X. .

7. Admission Process :  At the very beginning of each academic year fresh student are generally admitted in Class I and Class XI through admission test. In 2003, during the admission of class XI government rules have been followed.

8. Fees :  Students have to clear their dues by the 15th of each month. The rates

9.  Stipends :  Stipends are given to the meritorious poor students. Government stipends are also awarded to the applicable students. Girls get extra preference.
 
10. Other Mentionable rules Strict discipline prevails in all corners. The class hour starts after an assembly. Attendance is strictly monitored by the class teachers in the school section and by the guide teachers in the college section. Absenteeism is not tolerated. Missed classes are made up regularly. Weekly class tests keep the students agile and ready for any exam.
 
11. Supervision and Monitoring :  The principal is at the center of all supervision and monitoring activity. The principal regularly attends the class without any prior notice and evaluates the performance of the teacher. If needed, he gives wise technical suggestions from his point of view. On the other hand, there is an annual inspection to supervise the academic performance of the institution. The committee is comprised of Naval Officers.
