Commodore Nizamuddin Ahmed, (TAS), ndc, psc, BN was born in 1960 at Madaripur. He was graduated from Marshal Tito Naval Academy in Ex Yugoslavia. He was commissioned on 1^st August 1981. He did the Officer Weapon Joint Tactics Course in the School of Infantry & Tactics, Sylhet. He has also completed the Anti Submarine Warfare Course from INS VENDRUTHY, India. He did Inter Forces Staff Course from Paris. He also attended courses in Canada and USA. Commodore Nizam has Commanded almost all kinds of warships including the Ex-RN Frigates and Establishments. He also served in Bangladesh Coast Guard. He has graduated from National Defence College, Mirpur, Dhaka. 

        Commodore Nizam also performed the duties of Military Observer in Ivorycoast. He has taken over the duties of Commodore Commanding Chittagong on 24 January 2010.

        Commodore Nizam also speaks French and Servocroatian language. He visited more than 23 countries in the World. He is married to Nazmun Nahar and blessed with two sons.
