Commodore K T Zaman joined Bangladesh Navy in
1978 and attended Yugoslav Naval Academy. He
was commissioned in the Executive Branch in
1980.
He
completed Graduation from Marshall Tito
University of Yugoslavia, Masters of Science
(M Sc) from Pakistan National Defense
University and Masters of Defence Studies
(MDS) from National University Dhaka.
He
attended several courses including National
Defence Course in Pakistan, Admiral Staff
Course in Germany, Staff Course at Mirpur,
Senior Officers Amphibious Planning Course in
USA, Communication Specialization in India,
Optronic Fire Control System Course in Italy,
Small Ship Course in China and Officers Weapon
and Juniors Tactics Course (OW & JTC) at
Sylhet.
As a
Naval Area Commander, he served as Commodore
Commanding Khulna (COMKHUL) and Naval
Administrative Authority Dhaka (Admin Dhaka).
Besides, he has commanded numerous ships and
establishments including a Guided Missile
Frigate, Submarine Chaser, Mine Sweeper,
Patrol Craft, School of Maritime Warfare &
Tactics (SMWT), Arsenal Depot & Centre etc. He
also served as Directing Staff at Defence
Services Command & Staff College (DSCSC) and
BN Junior Staff Course (BNJSC), Chief
Instructor at Fast Attack Craft (FAC) School &
Centre, Training Commander in Training
establishments, Training Planning Officer at
Naval Academy and Officer in Charge (OIC) of
several Training Schools. As a staff he was
appointed as Colonel General Staff (Col GS) at
Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC)
and Chief Staff Officer (CSO) to Commodore
Commanding Chittagong (COMCHIT) and Commodore
Commanding BN Flotilla (COMBAN). He was also
appointed in the Prime Minister’s Office
(Armed Forces Division) as Director of Civil &
Military Relations. Currently he is appointed
as COMKHUL for a second tenure.
He
participated in several seminars at home and
abroad including a seminar on “Global Maritime
Cooperation” in Denmark, “North East South
Asia (NESA) Executive Seminar” in USA and “UN
Peacekeeping Operation” in Pakistan. He is an
alumnus of NESA Center for Strategic Studies
at US National Defense University. He
published numerous articles in national
newspapers, defense journals and periodicals,
including issues of international conflict and
cooperation.
He
speaks German, Serbo-Croatian, English and
Bangla languages; visited several countries
and a computer literate.
Cdre
K T Zaman is married with Mrs. Shaheena Zaman
and blessed with two sons- elder one is a
university student in the USA and the younger,
a high school student. |
