DIPLOMATIC MISSION

1.    Goodwill Visit. It is a tradition to visit foreign ports time to time or during her voyage by Navy ships. By this goodwill visit two navies can transfer professional knowledge and can strengthen brotherly relationship. BNS UMAR FAROOQ was schedule to visit Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia in May 2003. But due to outbreak of SARS the programme was postponed. BNS OSMAN sailed on 25 Sep 03 to participate in Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition scheduled from 30 Sep to 05 Oct 2003 in Malaysia.

2.    STMK and OKP. BN is contributing in the reconstruction activities of post war Kuwait by providing Skilled and Technical Manpower. The project is known as Skilled and Technical Manpower in Kuwait (STMK). So far 318 persons have completed their tenure in STMK and 340 persons are deployed in STMK at present. A limited number of officers and sailors are taking part in Operation Kuwait Punargathon (OKP). These personnel normally work on deputation for tenure of 2-3 years. So far 29 persons have completed OKP and 10 persons are on deputation in OKP-6 at present.
